I primarily want to teach high school, so I chose from the 9-10 technology standards. I decided to look at ELA standard LAFS.910.WHST.1.2. Essentially, to meet this standard you have to be able to write an well written, well researched report or essay. I think that with my current skill set, I could implement this standard, because I have a good understanding of the fundamentals of essay writing, especially organizing information in a coherent way.

As previously mentioned, I want to teacher high school, so I'll be choosing a resource or tool from that toolkit, specifically from the Social Studies subject area. The resource that I found was "What Is an American? Evaluating the Structure of an Argument," which is a three part lesson on analyzing arguments, but I focused on the first part. In this lesson, students learn how to identify and analyze, the claims, evidence, reasoning, and point of view of an argument. I would use this resource in my own classroom, because in history - and even in everyday life - understanding and scrutinizing the arguments made by people is important knowing whether or not you're being misinformed or not.

It's especially important for teachers to be proficient Internet searchers, because not only can they use those skills to acquire and develop lesson and information for their classrooms, but they can also teach those important skills to their students. I actually found a lot of the Internet search skills to be super useful! I think for myself, the most useful ones will be: searching for exact quotes, excluding words from results, and searching specifically for pdfs. The quotes one will likely be the one I use the most, because I very frequently recall hearing or reading something, but when I try to look up the quotation I can never find it, even when I know that I have the wording right!
