Blog Post 6
I've enjoyed using Diigo the few times I've used it. I like the community aspect of it, and I can learn a lot from my peers depending on what they bookmark. I also like that highlights and notes appear under the bookmarked webpage, not requiring me to click on the article to read them. I can decide to read an article based on if I think the content will be interesting because of highlighted sections or notes.
I do like the idea of maintaining a blog and looking at other people's blogs, but I feel like a lot of the experience is a little restricted because of the platform we are using. Having to switch between blogs to see people's content feels rather tedious, and it would be a more enjoyable experience to see everyone's posts in the same feed. Perhaps there is a way to do that with Blogger, but I don't know about it lol. After this class, I may start a blog outside of class about something I'm interested in on a different platform, as I now have a better understanding on what it's like maintaining a blot and adding posts to it.
A Web 2.0 tool that I plan on using in my own classroom is definitely YouTube. On YouTube, anyone can create and share their own videos, as well as of course watching other's videos. I do a lot of my academic learning on YouTube, and while some creators are definitely not reliable, there a multitude of channels that present information in a way that rivals traditional education. I do not want to be one of those teachers that just teaches their class via YouTube, but YouTube presents a medium that help students make connects to the material that they may have otherwise not made.
