I quite enjoyed creating my own website. I'd never used Weebly before, and while I did initially have some issues customizing my website to my liking, I eventually got it to look fairly nice. I think that I liked organizing the information I put on the pages the most. Given the website is for an assignment and I had to make up a lot of the info on it, I know that I will have a much easier time making a website in my future teaching career, and it will be a lot easier to fill out the website with real information for my students.
Diigo is a surprisingly fantastic website. Its an extremely useful tool that makes sharing articles and websites so much easier, and I've found that just looking at what my peers have shared in our own Diigo has expanded helped my range of sources, as I've been exposed to a variety of reliable sources I had not previously heard of or considered. This application would an effective tool in the classroom to share material to my students, as well as for my students to share and learn from each other. I believe that any collaborative team would greatly benefit from using Diigo as - I say again - it makes sharing information online so much easier.
It goes without saying that technology innovation is extremely important in the classroom. One of the more prominent issues in education is that tech innovation has a tendency to lag behind and stagnate. A large part of this - I believe - is partly due to complacency among teachers, and a lack of sharing new ways to utilize technology in classrooms as the potential to do so becomes more accessible. A blog that I found called EdTech Roundup does this by pulling tech innovations in education and other education resources from all over onto the website to provide teachers with the info they need to keep up with trends in technology.

Hi Zack!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your website design, it looks like you had fun creating your website. I love that we both had Crash Course as one of our resources, which I do agree that their videos are helpful for educating students.
Concept: Everything is legible and easy to read. You were consistent with contrasting the colors together!
Repetition: Overall, all the pages are consistent with the same font and format! It is super easy to read and easy to access around the site.
Alignment: This section I was a little hesitant on, because some pages on your website were either alignment correctly or not. Your home page and announcements pages look great, but your resources and About me page I feel could use a different indent so it looks neater and aligned at least on my end.
Proximity: You use your space to your advantage, yet still be simplistic about it.
Awesome job on the assignment! :)
Zack,
ReplyDeleteYou have a very good looking design for your website. Everything flows well, and it is easy to navigate. In terms of C.R.A.P.:
Your concept is great, the pages are easy to navigate and it is very intuitive.
Your pages are consistent in font and layout and it makes the whole website flow
Your alignment works well, each tab takes you right to where you are supposed to and there is not extraneous information that should not be in your pages.
Your proximity is very good. Not too cluttered with small fonts and not too empty with whole blank pages.
Hi Zach!
ReplyDeleteI just checked out your website and I thought it was very easy to understand and I had no problem finding the information I needed. What I thought it lacked a little bit was contrast. I felt that a lot of the colors were the same and it made the website look a little boring. I liked the layout and overall feel of the site but I think it looks a little unfinished. I think there needs to be a bit more repetition of visual elements and more contrast to make things pop. Overall I think it is a great website but it just needs a little updating!
Hi, Zac! Your website is very well done:)
ReplyDeleteIn terms of C.R.A.P:
C - I feel like you could've added a little bit more contrast between each of the pages. I really liked how you included different images on each page, but I felt like that was the only real contrast throughout.
R - Going off of my last comment, I will say that I liked the consistency of your font size and shape. I also liked that all of the pages are set up in pretty much the same way and that they do not have an overwhelming amount of info on them.
A - Your alignment was great! The tabs that led to each page worked very well and it was very easy to navigate between all of the pages. I also liked how you included sub-tabs under the resources tab. That was very smart!
P - Your proximity was pretty good, although I felt as though some of the pages could've used a little bit more info or maybe a bigger font size (specifically your announcements page). Other than that, I liked the simplicity of your website overall!
